Trying to master the transition into fall is not always easy. These few tricks have helped me become adept at easing my summer style into a fresh take on autumn:
- Fabric – Just because it’s still relatively warm, doesn’t mean you can’t wear a sweater. Just try pairing it with a skirt or shorts, so you still get the cool breeze on your lower body to keep you from overheating.
- Color – Sure, fall is all about the dark jewel tones, but that doesn’t mean you need to give up your summer brights. Try mixing them with neutrals and adding pops of fall tones to create a cohesive look.
- Accessories – Instead of a plain hair tie, keep a silk scarf tied to your bag and use it to pull back your hair when you’re feeling warm. Or, if it’s cool out, tie it around your neck for a fun vintage twist.
- Texture – Just because you’re wearing solid colors doesn’t mean they have to be simple. Try mixing in suede pieces (I thrift mine), ribbed tops or a fuzzy wool.
Hopefully these tips help you skip the sudden transition from tank tops to pullovers, and learn how to make a thoughtfully curated between-season wardrobe.
