Mix & Match

This fall there are no rules when it comes to mixing patterns. If you don’t believe me, just listen to the runways.

For my less in-your-face take on this trend, I paired a striped tee in one of this falls biggest colors – mustard yellow – with a great pair of vintage trousers I found that are brown wool with a grey pinstripe. I added in a snakeskin shoe (another all-the-rage print) and threw on my favorite vintage Louis Vuitton bag (thrifted) for good measure.

To break it down, I’m mixing:

  • Horizontal stripes
  • Pinstripes
  • Snake print
  • LV print

Which sounds pretty nuts – but the finished look isn’t actually that crazy. I kept everything in the warm, neutral family and kept the prints simple. The runways of course are mixing bold prints with bold colors, but I’ve found that you look a bit extreme wearing things like that around small towns in New Hampshire.

Next up on my list of fall trends to try out are:

  • Plaid blazers
  • Polka dots
  • Shades of tan/camel
  • Burgundy
  • Neon brights – orange and yellow
