Since it’s been in the negatives all week, I decided to borrow my best friend’s (@shelbyjanegav) bedroom to take a couple of photos indoors. It was a little weird, but her room is much cuter than mine (as mine is under construction.)
I’m actually counting down the days until I can start to paint and decorate my room, but I think it’s going to be a while as we have other house projects going that need to be finished first. But, I’m imagining warm grey walls, some white furniture, touches of wood and eclectic pops of color.
I’m debating doing an accent wall, but I can’t decide. Anyone have advice? Is it better to stay simple? I like the idea of adding a terracotta colored wall to keep things warm and bright. For today, I’ll settle for pretending Shelby’s room is mine.
I’ve been trying to tone down my style lately, buying versatile pieces and neutrals, since my shopping budget has been massively reduced and I’ll need pieces to outlast the trends. The jeans I’m wearing here are my absolute favorites from ASOS, and I want to eventually get another pair without the holes in the knees.
I wanted to try wearing this beret since I bought it a couple of months ago and haven’t been willing to don it in public yet. I figured since it’s more of a statement I’d pair it with this simple, soft turtleneck. I threw on my black leather jacket when we went out, and a pair of nude, pointed loafers to tie up this neutral outfit.
I look a bit like a french painter, but I’m not mad at it.
Speaking of painting, Shelby made that awesome drop cloth in the background of the photos at the desk, and I love love love it. She did the blue vortex painting too. I like to paint as well, but my paints and canvas are locked away somewhere in storage. Maybe I’ll try to get them out soon and make some pieces to use as inspiration for my room decor.
Until then, I’ll keep expressing myself on here.
(Mid-smirk in that last one, I think.)
